Tutors4Stars is a youth organization of dedicated high school students who provide online learning opportunities for neurodiverse individuals.
Through our online private and group classes, ranging from academic to extracurricular subjects, we hope to create a comfortable and engaging learning atmosphere for neurodiverse individuals.
Founder and President
Courtney attends Torrey Pines High School, Class of 2023. Her purpose is to provide free learning opportunities for neurodiverse students through online tutoring. Courtney gained experience working with children with neurodiversity by teaching art and music classes as well as operating the San Diego chapter in SN Inclusion. She hopes to expand the Tutors4Stars organization and help support students in their journey of academic and personal growth. In her free time, Courtney enjoys figure skating, listening to music, and learning new things.
Co-President
Jerry is a Senior at Torrey Pines High School, class of 2023. One of his favorite hobbies is fencing and he has competed in the sport for over 5 years. Jerry also enjoys reading and writing, and play the piano and trombone. As Co-President, Jerry would like to expand awareness of Tutor4stars in the community and attract more tutors to the organization to connect and help children of special needs. He hopes to help those children to take advantage of online learning by providing them free and fun opportunities to learn. His own tutoring experience makes him believe that tutors will also feel fulfilled from assisting others in their academic journey.
Volunteer Organizer
Bryan is a Senior at Canyon Crest Academy Class of 2023. He joined the Tutors4Stars Organization because he was intrigued with the mission to give learning opportunities to students with special needs. Bryan loves teaching younger students because it reminds him of his experience struggling with academics when he was younger. Last summer break, Bryan volunteered at a Korean church helping younger students learn subjects like English, math, Korean, etc. Some of his hobbies include playing the clarinet as well as playing soccer. As the Volunteer Organizer for this organization, Bryan hope to create a positive effect, as well as improve the organization as a whole with his hardworking and passionate personality.
Math Education Director
Nolan is part of the class of 2022. He is the co-sports editor for TPHS’ nationally ranked high school newspaper, Falconer. He also is the founder of a small business in the fantasy sports and sports journalism industry. Nolan is part of the tennis team as well as the speech and debate team. His hobbies include journalism and almost anything sports-related. He gained experience tutoring through the Study Buddy program. Nolan is a part of Tutors4Stars because he wants to give back to the community by helping students with special needs overcome academic challenges.
English Education Co-Director
Pascale currently attends Canyon Crest Academy, Class of 2023. She plays volleyball for her school and enjoys reading, writing, crafting, and cooking in her free time. Pascale taught a 1st grade Creative Writing class for the Volunteer Tutors organization, is a part of the FORA organization in which she tutors refugees in Chicago, and is the Student Ambassador for the CCA Hands On San Diego club. Last year, she partook in the Casa de Amistad program where she led elementary school students in learning STEM and English. She is a part of Tutors4Stars because she loves to teach and share her knowledge in order to help others expand their education and explore their interests.
English Education Co-Director
Kinjal attends Torrey Pines High School, Class of 2022. Her extracurricular activities include basketball, track and field, and cross country. She gained experience tutoring by helping her siblings and cousins. Kinjal is happy and proud to be a part of Tutors4Stars organization because she is glad to be presented the opportunity to help students in need of guidance during this time of year. When not tutoring, she can be found drawing and reading in her free time.
Science Education Director
Cynthia Liu is a part of the 2024 graduating class of Canyon Crest Academy. She loves STEM, and as the Education Director for Science, she hopes to spread her love for science to others! Over the past few years, Cynthia has taken part in many science-related activities, and outside of school, she enjoys playing badminton, music, and reading. With a strong passion for helping others, she is looking forward to helping students succeed!
Art Education Director
Jenny attends Canyon Crest Academy, class of 2023. Her extracurricular activities include Science Olympiad, speech and debate, and playing tennis. Jenny gained experience by tutoring students in elementary schools for 3 years. She is a part of Tutors4Stars because she aims to be a part of an organization that focuses on supporting these students by providing them the kind of instruction that brings about the best of their academic abilities. She can be found drawing and reading in her free time.
Spanish Education Director
Allison currently attends Canyon Crest Academy and graduates in the year of 2023. This summer she found her passion for tutoring and wanted to continue by becoming a member for Tutors4Stars. Her favorite sport is playing softball and she hopes to help Tutors4Stars grow as a community. As education director for Spanish, Allison hopes to immerse students in the art of the language in the Spanish department.
Sports Director
Ervin is a Junior at Torrey Pines High School, class of 2024. This is his 9th year playing basketball and he is currently a basketball athlete in his high school. Ervin also participated in track and field as a junior varsity sprinter. In basketball offseasons, he dedicates much of his time in the weight room and has specialized knowledge within the fields of sporting performance and physical training. Ervin has experience in coaching and organizing a basketball team of 1st graders in Master Sports. Additionally, he enjoys playing guitar, piano, delving into music arrangements in his spare time. Ervin is glad to be a part of the Tutors4Stars program due to his passion in teaching and providing help to others when needed.
The Bishop’s School Chapter Director (La Jolla)
Lisa is a freshman at The Bishop’s School, Class of 2026. Her goal is to bring a smile to everyone’s faces and help a community she holds dearly to her heart. She wants to make learning fun and interesting, and wants to make sure that everyone has the chance to enjoy the process of learning. Lisa has gained the experience by tutoring her own brother, who has autism. Doing Tutors4Stars is almost a way of giving back to the community in her eyes. She hopes to give every neurodiverse student she meets a newfound confidence and happiness. Outside of school, Lisa loves performing on a musical theater stage or on TV. She is an actress, model, and singer, and often does commercials and TV shows. She also loves to write songs and books, as well as paint. For Lisa, performing is a way of expressing herself in a beautiful and unique way.
